Change the server settings in Outlook

How to fix the settings of an account already set up in Outlook, without removing it.

Wrong or outdated server settings are one of the most common causes of problems sending and receiving email in Outlook. This usually happens after changing hosting providers or passwords.

Here’s how to fix the settings of an account that’s already in Outlook, without removing it.

How to change them

  1. Go to File and, under Account Information, choose the email you want to fix.
  2. Click Account Settings > Server Settings.
  3. Correct the incoming and outgoing mail fields with the settings below. If you changed your password, update it too.
  4. Click Next so Outlook tests the connection.
Server
pvlmail1.raszio.com
TypePortSecurity
IMAP (incoming)993SSL/TLS
POP (incoming)995SSL/TLS
SMTP (outgoing)587STARTTLS
  • Username: your full email address, such as jane@yourcompany.com
  • Password: your email password

If everything is right, you’ll be sending and receiving email normally again.

Common problems

If it still doesn’t work:

  • Check that the Encryption method is SSL/TLS for the incoming server and STARTTLS for the outgoing one
  • Test your password in Webmail. If you can’t sign in there, the problem is the password.
