I'm getting a lot of spam

Why some addresses get more spam and how to cut it down.

Email Premium has a spam filter that blocks most malicious messages before they reach your inbox. Even so, some addresses get more spam than others. Here’s why and what to do.

Why some addresses get more spam

Addresses that are easy to guess

Addresses such as contact@, support@ or sales@ are easy to guess, so they become targets of mass mailings. If you can, prefer less obvious addresses for internal use.

Addresses published online

Bots crawl the internet looking for email addresses to build spam lists. Sites hosted at Raszio already hide these addresses from bots, but be careful when publishing your email on other sites and social networks.

Addresses registered with many services

Every newsletter or service you sign up for keeps your email. When one of them suffers a data breach, those lists end up being used to send spam. Unsubscribe from newsletters you no longer read and use a separate address for less important sign-ups.

How to fight spam

  • Mark it as spam. When you mark a message as spam, the filter learns and starts sending similar messages straight to the spam folder.
  • Create filters. Filters move messages automatically based on words in the subject, the sender or the recipient.
